Eyes Wide Open

Sleep is like an allusive state that my body instinctively reaches out for yet seems unable to grasp.  So close you can almost touch it, but for now it remains out of reach.  Plagued by this weariness, seconds seem like minutes, minutes like hours.  The night is long.

I lay here willing sleep to wrap its arms around me and hold me tight, releasing me from its grip only at sun's first light.  Why is sleep not my friend, its visits intermittent?

It beckons to me, toys with me, drawing me close yet remaining distant.

Listing to the sounds of a house at rest I lay, I wait, I wonder . . . . . will sleep be my friend tonight?

Take A Walk On The Wild Side

There is something fun about animal print.

It injects a little whimsy and humor into a space.

So I just couldn't pass up the chance to make these fun cushion covers after purchasing some of this great material at a local craft store.

Featured On Cute Handmade

As a crafter, having your work featured gives you a real boost in confidence and reinforces the belief in your items.

Today you will find some of my clay creatures featured on a website called Cute Handmade.  I'd love it if you'd stop by and check it out.

Have a great weekend.

Sssh, Listen, What Do You Hear?

Silence can create a huge void or form a strong bond, be a sign of great wisdom or illustrate someone's ignorance, be comforting or all consuming, signify confidence or shyness, imply agreement or disapproval, indicate tranquility or signal danger, demonstrate sadness or joy, show peace or inner turmoil.  Ssssh, listen.  What do you hear?

Winter Wonderland

I continue to be blown away but the amazing photos that my brother (Chris Dyche) takes.

Combine his skills with the magic of snowfall and this is the result.

These picturesque photos were taken in a small village called Faringdon in the United Kingdom.

I'm sure you'll agree that they are truly beautiful . . . . .

. . . and capture the wonder of winter.

New Clay Creatures

This holiday season I found time to break out the clay and what resulted was some fun new characters that I've added to the collection.

When I initially sit down I have no idea what creature is going to unfold or what form the clay is going to take.

I just mold and shape the clay until personality and character appear.

I also love picking out names to give each of my creatures, the finishing touch before they grace the pages of my shop.

I love my cute, sometimes weird, but often fun creatures and I hope you do too.
