The downy woodpeckers have never really been interested in the bird seed I've put out . . . . .
. . . . . but they are loving the suet blocks I recently added.
They are a little camera shy though so it's been really difficult to get photos of them.
Who's camera shy in your neck of the woods?
Well, strange thing - I love birds and have no bird feeders at the moment! ; ) And I love this little guy, so cute, he seems to have found a favorite in your yard.
ReplyDeleteI was out yesterday for a short walk, and never made it past that butterfly garden I go to. It's a little bare but there is still butterfly weed growing and much to my surprise I found a half a dozen monarchs and 1 caterpillar, and usually they are quite shy but I was able to get quite close!
my daughters!!!
ReplyDeletelovely photos!!
Thanks Kathryn, I can relate to being camera shy. :0)
DeleteBlue skies. We have had only gray skies for the past week or so. I don't mind the cold and the now but it would be nice to see a little bit of sunshine.
ReplyDeleteYour bird shots always amaze me!
Thanks Brenda, we seem to alternate between blue and gray skies although it's bitterly cold here right now. I'm determined to try and get some better shots of them if I can.
DeleteI agree with Brenda. Your bird shots are amazing!
ReplyDeleteThanks Jane, I really want to get some better shots of the downy's but they're not the easiest subjects.
DeleteGreat photos! Kim's comment about the butterflies made me think about the butterflies in our garden; they'd be the shy ones in our neck of the woods.
ReplyDeleteMy downys do eat from my feeder due to the fact that I have a mix of nuts and fruit as well as seed. You ought to see them through the seed out to find the best parts of the mix! At least the squirrels and doves get the stuff on the ground!
ReplyDeleteToo funny!! Yes - I'd think he's camera shy too. What sweet little birds!
ReplyDelete"my" downies are the same way -- will never feed at anything but the suet! :)
ReplyDeleteyes, they love suet...which reminds me that I need to refill my feeders!
ReplyDeletewe have snowy woodpeckers, they look almost exactly like the downy, but i feel like they are not so shy...they will come and feed even when i am sitting quite nearby.
Wonderful shots. All birds are shy for me when I have my camera.
