This image first resonated with me because I saw within it glimpses of myself . . . . reflection and contemplation; quiet reticence; shyness and timidness.
Drawn closer I began to notice the finer details. The pattern of the feathers, the way the eyelashes so beautifully frame the eye, the little hairs at the side of the beak.
All to often I get caught up reflecting on the past, what has been. This image served as a reminder to sit up and take notice of the little things, the every day things, the here and now.
What image did you capture in February that you felt a special connection to?
Kathryn - your words really resonate with me. I, too, am a quiet and reticence person and your image so beautifully captures those qualities. And I like the other lesson that you took from this exercise - of the beauty of the little things that surround us each moment - there for us to see.
ReplyDeleteThanks Brenda, good to know that my words resonated with you and that there are like minded souls out there.
DeleteI have no special February image but this one is simply lovely. You have caught every fibre of the plumage, I can almost feel it.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful image & thoughtful words. Always good to appreciate the now.
ReplyDeleteI don't know about you but I sure have seen (or read) a lot of photo-connections today that are very intertwined with each other. And the here and now, that's all we have really! Love the details in his feathers...he sure looks like he's reflecting on something too!
ReplyDeleteWonderful capture and thoughts. I really need to participate in this meme at some point, but I keep forgetting about it.
ReplyDeletewhat a moment to capture... beautifully done and thank you for pointing out those traits... I never knew that birds had eyelashes... :)
ReplyDeleteYour bird captures are so wonderful. I love how you've interpreted yourself in this little one. I am not really a bird person....I mean they're lovely, but they don't hold a passion for me. I do love seeing your bird images tho' as I see something that I can't seem to see on my own.
ReplyDeleteOh, the details in the image and your words, what you noticed, are all just fabulous! Thank you for that important reminder to be Present in life.
ReplyDeleteI love how you guided me through this photo, first the shyness and then the detail. The beauty that exists when you look closer. Thanks for sharing this Photo-Heart Connection!
ReplyDeleteSuch a sweet bird with a good lesson for all of us: sit up and take notice of the little things. Thanks for sharing your lovely image and a special interpretation.
ReplyDeleteI love the effect your use of depth of field has given this image--we can almost feel the down of the feathers.
ReplyDeleteSuch a beautiful imagae, the detail is amazing. And I love your words too, the reminder to sit up and take notice of now.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely image of this little bird! I really relate to your quiet meditation on the larger meaning, too.
ReplyDeleteBreathtaking image and words that are so true! I tend to worry too much about the future and need to relax and just live in the now! Thanks for this wonderful reminder!
ReplyDeleteI looked at your photo and thought "what a sweet bird" Thank you for describing the details of what you saw. I never would have stopped to look closer at the detail in the feathers or the markings around the eyes.
ReplyDeleteIt is often the quiet ones who have the most to say.
Such a wonderful image, the detail is amazing and the bird indeed seems to be both sweet and shy. Beautifully interpreted
ReplyDeleteWow, this is so beautiful, and yes, the here, the now, the paying attention, that's what matters most.
ReplyDeleteGreat photo and text, love both.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful discovery you found in looking closely at this photo. Now I am reminded as well to look closely at that which is in front of me. It is something that, in my haste, I don't always do.
ReplyDeleteI so agree with you about looking at the details. I'm always amazed at some of the birds when I look at them close up! Such beauty and softness and magic. Everything that is in this photo!
ReplyDeleteSuch a beautiful image. I love looking at it. It looks like she is thinking such big thoughts! Wonderful detail. What a contemplative mood this evokes.
ReplyDeleteWhat an exquisite image..and wonderful metaphor. I can definitely see how it resonated with you!!
ReplyDeletewith being in florida the entire month of february, i'd have to answer your question with "all of them"
ReplyDeletebut in general, the flight of the seagulls in many of my photos, the freedom they have.....resonates with me the most.
xo
Gosh ~ so many pretty things to look at here. Birds cats squirrels ~ oh yes ~ a very nice place indeed!
