A Book Of Poetry & Prose

I've spent the last couple of months working on the idea of self publishing a book of poetry and prose.  It's certainly not an easy undertaking but an interesting learning curve for sure.

Each year I like to challenge myself and try something new that helps me grow in some way.  So this is me . . . learning, growing and putting myself out there.  I'm hoping to have it completed early in the New Year.  Watch this space.

I would like to share with you some of the art created by my sister, Nicola Dyche, a self taught artist that enjoys exploring texture and symbolism in her paintings and drawings.

Merry Christmas & Happy Holidays

Wishing you all love and laughter this holiday season.

A big thank you for your visits and comments this past year, they have meant a lot to me.  Thank you also for your love, support, friendship and advice which encourage me to grow in remarkable ways.  The blogging community is a pretty incredible place and I am so happy to be a small part of it.

No White Christmas

Well it doesn't look as though we're going to have a White Christmas.

I can't say I'm  not disappointed but I am welcoming the warmer weather.  I'm sure my feathered friends are too.  What's the weather looking like in your neck of the woods?

Pernicious Energy

an introduction
the shake of a hand
two palms encircling one
a power play

reading your energy
with his hands, with his eyes
politeness preventing you
from pulling away

yet as he read yours
so you sensed his
nefarious, foreboding
the darkness behind the smile

Inside Out

you on one side
me on the other
one looking in
the other looking out

one pane of glass
one percent of DNA
one moment in time
all that separates us

looking into your eyes
seeing my soul
reflected in yours
I'm turned inside out

Listen To Your Heart: #Reverb13

Prompt:  What does your heart have to tell you?

like a book
it is better to be open
accessible
than gathering dust
on a shelf

Nourished: #Reverb13

Prompt:  What made your soul feel most nourished this year?

 I gulp down seasons
thirsty for transformation
for renewal and change

I bathe in moonlight
sprinkle myself with stardust
and clothe myself with nature

I slough away tension
with tree bark and stones
dry autumn leaves and pine cones

I shake off pain
like droplets of rain
filling myself with birdsong

and in these moments
in the breathing
 my soul is nourished

Sorry that I haven't been around as much lately.
Mum is visiting from the UK and its been hard to find computer time.

How Do You Feel: #Reverb13

Prompt:  How do you feel, on this first day, in your mind? In your body? In your heart? In your soul?

my mind

clutches the steering wheel
driving me round the bend
drifting in the silence
wheel spinning through the noise

my body

strums pain with its fingers
playing a tune of revenge
I want to call truce
but the olive branch is broken

my heart

expands and contracts
like billows fanning flames
of gratitude and heartache
laughter and sadness

my soul

soars and dives
enraptured by the climb
exhilarated by the fall
until splattered across the ground
