Joey

My little guy turned one this weekend.  He cracks me up.  He's always so happy and smiles a lot.

Joey is a German Shepherd/Boxer/Australian Shepherd mix.  I guess his size is due to the Australian Shepherd part but I love watching the 'Boxer' elements come out when he plays.

He never really seems to have a clue what's going on but he runs around and has fun anyway.

He can be nervous of new things and has quite the bark on him but loves to be loved.

He's especially partial to head rubs and makes sure he fills his quota each day..

Ravyn has a habit of stealing his chews and I can't help but laugh when he comes to tell me so that I can retrieve it for him.  I swear it's like having kids some days.

Joey's not so keen about being submerged in water and prefers to sit on the sidelines having a drink while Ravyn swims.

Talking of Ravyn, he loves his big sister.  One of their favorite games is tug and even though he's 30lbs lighter than she is he can match her in pulling power.

So many of the trails near our home require us to have our dogs on a leash . . . but my favorite walks are those where they can roam freely, scenting and investigating as they run along.

Looking back, it's weird to think Joey was such a tiny thing when we first got him.

What a difference a year makes.

    1. Thanks Jane. They often make me smile but I have to say I wasn't smiling this morning when I discovered a shredded toilet roll in our front room! Oh the joys.
