Puce

trapped in a maze
of patterned carpets
and dog-eared publications

feeling the strain
of life's
pendulous ticking presence

I climb walls
the color of puce green
like pond scum churned by rain

Interestingly puce is said to be a darkish shade of purplish brown in the US but in Europe it tends to be a bright green.

  1. Love the ' life's
pendulous ticking presence' ~ but I'd try to jump on and keep ticking in the motion ~ have a peaceful rest of the week :)xx

  3. Ooh, that is some powerful imagery in those few lines. I see puce the same as you, bright pond scum green :)

    Sometimes, rain brings the flowers.

  5. life as a pendulum, that really caught my attention...it sort of is, the ticking of seconds past, victim of circumstance...no choice but to wait.

full of lovely images and colors...superb as always!

  6. Isn't that strange that puce has such different meanings? Great imagery.
