Evening's Edge

dragonflies dart by waters edge
the glistening of blue green hues
mirroring their iridescence
as though relative

while light shines on lifeless limbs
the sun showing no distinction
between the living and the dead
drawn only by the vast expanse
of continuous horizons

gliding through the evening depths
easing into letting go
of breath, of body, of mind
expanding ripples contort
everything of human form

  1. So true....the light shines on all, the lifeless and the living, indiscriminately! Such a lovely last stanza, Kathryn.

    1. I was watching the sun set between two dead trees which have been driving my husband nuts. Had to smile at how beautiful it looked.

  2. Reading here I liked your dragonfly and how you glide into spirituality guiding through a meditative write. Well done to get to your point showing people how to get there..

    1. Thanks Grace. I had to dig around in my photos to find a dragonfly image to work with as I didn't have my camera to hand when I saw the one yesterday that inspired this piece.

    1. Dragonflies are so amazing to look at. We don't seem to have the black and white ones here but there were some at my father-in-law's in Kansas and there were incredible.
