Like Something Out Of A Fairytale

I went to take the dog for a walk yesterday and couldn't believe what I stumbled upon.

A tiny little bambi curled up at the base of a tree.  Precious!  I'm not sure where the mother was, really hope it does ok.

  1. oh my gosh... a few years ago, one morning, a tiny little fawn like this turned up in my garden, right outside our back door. i was totally freaked out, wondering where the mother was, and then several people told me that the mother will often "deposit" a baby for the day somewhere she thinks is safe while she goes off to eat. my husband even tried to feed it carrots (silly) and we never knew for sure if the mother returned but it was gone by that evening so we assumed that she did.
what a sweet surprise for you!

  2. Oh how precious....it would have been so hard not to want to love on it!! And I think Mrs. Mediocrity might be right as I have seen on our coastal trail at times babes hidden in the tall grasses. What a sweet thing to find on your walk. How far away were you when you took the picture and the dog didn't scare it away, wow!

  8. Oh, my. I would be beside myself worrying about it. I think the above comments are right about mom leaving them and they know to stay put.

  9. Oh what a treat! He's probably okay ... mothers place them in hiding places while they feed or when there may be danger near. I'm sure she wasn't very far away.
