Monogamous

The other day a large flock of starlings descended on the tree outside our family room.  There's something eerie yet intriguing when a large group of birds flock together like that, as though forming their own cloud.  I've seen it before with grackles, it kind of reminded me of Alfred Hitchcock's film 'The Birds'.  Did you know that starlings are monogamous?

  1. I did not know that about starlings, but I sure do love watching them or any birds do that cloud thing, flying back and forth like a ballet...so beautiful!

  2. I think I've told you before that I'm not fond of birds - but your images capture such beauty in the details of their feathers and coloring that I can't help but admire our feathered friends.

    1. It's interesting that there are many people who really aren't fond of birds. I love that you can see the beauty in their details despite this. :0)

  3. Lovely photograph. So many of our Australian birds are monogamous, and I love seeing families year after year with the same parents.

I didn't know that about Starlings either, they certainly like to travel as a group and spent a lot of time in my back garden :)

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU AND YOUR EXPANDING FAMILY :)
