Feather At Forty

I'd been thinking about getting a tattoo for a long time.  Everyone thought it would never happen but finally during my trip to the UK I went and got one done.

Apparently everyone bet that I would either bottle out or pass out (clearly my family has no faith in me) so I think I surprised them.  It didn't hurt as much as I thought it might but I believe a lot depends on what you have done and the location.

I'm happy with the way it turned out and can't believe that I waited until I was forty to finally have my first tattoo.  I'm already thinking about my second one and hope that it doesn't take me another forty years to get it done.

What do you think of tattoos?  Love them or hate them?  Do you have any yourself?  Don't worry about offending me, I know people have opinions both ways.

  1. I don´t hate them but I don´t love all them either. I like some tattoos, mainly those which are meaningful, yours is subtle and unique

But I am (almost) sure I won´t never have one, I fear I am going to regret if it´s not as beautiful as I expect it to be...

    1. Hi Kathryn, I tried to reply earlier, so if this is a duplicate, forgive me!
I love this tattoo, so beautiful and vivid. I've been thinking of getting one for awhile now too. Maybe I'll follow in your footsteps!

    3. I think that's what held me back for so long, the fear of getting it wrong or not liking it.

    4. Lisa . . . I think the key is to make sure it's something you love. I also picked the back of my neck so that I could have my hair down and you wouldn't be able to see it if I didn't want it showing.

  2. That is lovely. I thought it would hurt on the back of the neck. Glad to read that the experience was good. Have a lovely day.

  3. Kathryn -- I was getting tattoos back in the 80s when it wasn't so socially acceptable. I don't regret them, but won't be getting any more. That ship has sailed.

    Love yours btw.

    1. Thanks Brenda, I wanted something small for my first one and the idea of a feather seemed to speak to me.

  6. I agree with Seth, that your feather tattoo really suits you. It is a very pretty. Although I'm not a tattoo person, at least not for myself, I do often like small, thoughtful tattoos, such as yours. Could one say there are 'classic' tattoos?

  7. I love them. In fact, I'm adding on to mine next Friday. I got my first one about 2 years ago. It was a 40th birthday gift from my brother except it was 3 years late. (He's in the National Guard and was deployed).

I knew you had gotten one, but I didn't know what it was.
