Celebrating Chicago Style: Part I

My husband and I headed to Chicago to celebrate our 15 year wedding anniversary this weekend.  I think we experienced all four seasons in the three days we were there.  We arrived Saturday afternoon after a five hour car journey and headed out for a walk in the sunshine.

First we made our way through Millennium Park where we got to see the infamous 'Bean'.

I loved how the images underneath the 'Bean' look almost like some kind of scan.

Then we headed towards the south end of Grant Park in search of 'Agora', a group of 106 headless and armless iron sculptures designed by Polish Artist Magdalena Abakanowicz.  It didn't disappoint.

The evening was rounded off with deep dish pizza from Lou Malnati's.  It was a popular spot with a long wait time but even though I was game and tried it, I think I'll stick to thin crust.  Sorry all you deep dish lovers.

    1. The 'Bean' is a well known attraction. There were many brides having their photos taken in front of it when we were there. The Agora sculpture was a definitely favorite.

  5. Oh, how fun...isn't the bean so cool! And not sure how we missed "Agora" when I was in Chicago last summer? Happy Anniversary! (oh, and p.s. - I'm a deep dish fan, but some are better than others) Are you going to do the river architectural tour, wait, you might already be home? ;)

  6. I love Chicago. And I love the way you have captured its architecture - the BW treatment works really well, especially for those abstract shots of the Bean. Haven't seen "Agora" before - will have to try and see it when we are there in June. Glad you had such a great weekend.

    1. Agora was a favorite although took us ages to find it. Even the cop we asked had no idea where it was when we were about a 5 min walk from it. Have fun in June, you'll have a field day with all those buildings.
