Fair Weather Friend

a face like thunder
blows hot and cold
and the discord of an ill wind
whistles long into the night

I sit

perusing my teacup
languishing in the lull
wondering if I should stay
and weather the storm

but

throwing caution to the wind
was never my style
so tonight's the night
I ask the rain for a check

and it plays a couple ways....ugh on those that want to be around you when
all is fine and then disappear as soon as you need them...

  8. I like where you went with the prompt, Kathryn. Friends to keep away from. They usually bring more hail than sun and cool breeze.

  11. Quite frankly too much positive response is unrealistic in the world that Rallentand inhabits. So I always like the other side represented. Enjoyed your poem.

  21. I really like these lines: I sit

    perusing my teacup
    languishing in the lull
    wondering if I should stay
    and weather the storm

    - the teacup and the storm, makes me wonder if the peruser is considering releasing the storm themselves... nice write!
