Thirsting For Ink

our limbs are torn
our veins are sliced
and beaten to a pulp
water leaves its mark

submerged and drowned
pressed and bound
you'll find us thirsting
for a voice made of ink

    1. 'thirsting for a voice made of ink' is simply superb! I'm replying to Bjorn, I love his comment, too... trees are the voice that needs words to be spoken... poetry waiting to be written! I loved this take...

  4. Your poem made me realize that I hardly ever think of the trees that produce the paper we write on. Strong words here, Kathryn!

  5. Interesting to think of that we have depended on trees for hundreds of years to give powerful words a voice!

  6. I like -thirsting for a voice made of ink ~ In an ironic modern twist, we are now striving to be less dependent on paper & to save the trees ~ Still its the strong voice in the paper & books that moved us ~

  8. Yes, we have silenced them, so we should do them the justice of giving them a voice once more. It's the least we can do.
