The Trees Call Us Home

prehistoric knuckles
once dragged the ground
and you wonder what it was like
to walk upright for the very first time

the change in perspective
that would find limbs moving
from branches
to the confines of hand built walls

vertigo replacing contentment
as we long once again
for the giddying heights
of the trees that call us home

Pain

they say . . . . .
"keep your friends close
your enemies closer"

so tonight I'll writhe
under your magnitude

rumpled sheets
clenched
in balled fists

begging and pleading
sweat beading
as I let you fuck me

Wish Bone

fowl soothsayer
predicting grains of future
we tear flesh
from your carcass

pick at morsels
caught between our teeth
and wish upon the snap
of your hollow bones

Assassin

intercepted
between spiny legs

skin bristling at a touch
that offers no creature comfort

a mouth penetrates places
it should not go

 you'll hear no laughter
at the tickle of a moustache

for I'm paralyzed
m  e  l  t  i  n  g
from the inside out

until, until
I'm sucked
DEAD

The cycle of death can be hard to look at but it's all a part of Nature and I find myself fascinated by it.

her noise the she just
searching silence thoughts amongst high to to

crowded alone
she is more than she is not
curling silence a smoke screen
mirrored even in truth
politeness screaming

Lotus Pond

I love exploring Lotus Pond at the Cincinnati Nature Center and seeing the wildlife there.

At this time of year the frogs and toads are pretty well camouflaged.  Mud baths seem to be a popular activity among the residents.

I fell in love with this little guy, it's just too cute how his back legs are stretched out in the air as though he's trying to fly.

Don't forget to stop by my Free Giveaway for your chance to win this 7"x5" mixed media art painting.

Cry Me A Raven

cry me a raven
of ink and feathers
scribing innards
black as sorrow

smearing messages
in whispers
of fallen souls

carrion upon your breath
memories
rendered in cras

Cincinnati Nature Center

Just a few of the creatures I encountered on my walk at Cincinnati Nature Center this weekend.

Some were a little harder to spot than others.

New At Dyche Designs Studio

Just a few new pieces that I recently completed.  I'm finding myself drawn to the abstract so it will be interesting to see where that leads.

I've also been busy working on a commissioned seahorse triptych for a friend.  The image isn't the best but will give you some idea of what it looks like.

Still lots more paintings in progress so stay tuned.

Photo Heart Connection: July

This image makes me giggle, and anything that makes me giggle is a good thing.  It's the way the tail of the one is being held on top of the head of the other.    I think these dragonflies are creating their own version of the Karma Sutra.  What do you think?
