Inside Dyche Designs Studio: Studio Blog Hop

Many of you are used to seeing my artwork in its finished form but today I wanted to share a peek into what goes on behind the scenes.

I'm pretty heavy handed with the brushes and tools I use to create my art and I love to get messy . . .

You know I'm all about the texture so here's a glimpse at what's on my table right now.

Work in progress . . . . .

My office table . . . . .

Storage and mailing supplies . . . . .

I love to have artwork up on the walls in my studio..  A few pieces are my own . . . . .

. . . . . but a lot of it is work by other artists whose work I love and admire and objects I've found myself drawn to.

I hope you've enjoyed your visit.  Won't you join me in stopping by Seth Apter's blog The Altered Page where you can explore the unedited version of many other artists studios.

    1. Bjorn, we have two cats and two dogs. Sometimes the dogs will visit and lay under the tables but for the most part they get bored and take themselves off. One of our cats likes to curl up in a chair and the other (as you can see) prefers the window seat. the window seat is his spot so no fur in the paint. :) Thankfully he's happy to hang out there while I paint so no fur problems. :)

  12. First, I want to say how incredibly gifted you are. I love your work, in all its stages. I can tell you are a real artist, because you are able to work on more than one project at a time. I saw a few of the same art books that I have, too. And touring your studio was like visiting an art museum. I'm super impressed and can tell you are quite well organized.

    1. Thank you, got to love our furry friends although the dogs tend to get bored in there and only occasionally hang out by sleeping under the tables.

  16. There is something so personal and moving about seeing the space in which an artist creates. Love the textures of your new pieces - I really like the abstract natures of these backgrounds - very, very appealing. Thank you for sharing.

    1. Thanks Brenda, I really appreciate it. It's usually even more chaotic than this but I recently finished a number of pieces and had a tidy up before initiating a new mess.

  20. What fun to have a walk-around in your studio! All those splendid wips, supplies and hanging art are inspiring. Love your cats and dogs too:)

Something I feel is missing in mine is one more shelving unit. I like how you have a low one with pull-out boxes.

    Those journal covers are amazing!

    1. Thanks, that shelving unit is from Ikea and has been great for storage. I've had it both horizontal and vertical in different spaces so it's pretty versatile. :)
