tick, tock, tick, tock
the incessant beat of seconds passing like blows to her soul
tick, tock, tick, tock
resonating through her core, undoing her cell by cell
tick, tock, tick, tock
plucking at her nerves like an unskilled harpist
tick, tock, tick, tock
each one louder than the last, laughing at her, mocking her
tick, tock, tick, tock
her own heart beat growing louder, unwilling to be outdone
tick, tock, tick, tock
a form of personal torture
tick, tock, tick, tock
the seconds continue unperturbed
Beautiful photo Kathryn, are you counting down the days til you knee surgery?
ReplyDeleteSo many beautiful photos here in your blog. I do like them! :)
ReplyDeleteoh time... it truly waits for no one. i can so relate to this... hope that clock turns the volume down soon....
ReplyDeleteThe picture and the words are so powerful. Though it sounds like a very rough time. Pain? If so, I hope you are better now, that time is sliding more gently.
ReplyDeleteI've always hated the sound of ticking clocks . . . I am going in for knee surgery in just over a week and as part of my pre-op physical the doctor noticed that I had an abnormal EKG. The post was inspired by my subsequent visit to the cardiologist where I had to wait in a room sitting under a wall clock with the loudest ticking ever! It represents not only how much the noise of ticking completely makes me come undone but also the numerous hours I've spent in doctors offices over the last 18 months and the way time passes regardless of what may be going on with me.
DeleteStunning picture to go along with a very intense and moving post.
