rest assured promises
tuck you in tonight
as drug induced sleep
sings a sweet, sweet lullaby
tonight you forgo jealousy
despite the finger pointing
as you drift into a realm
oft reserved for others
savoring each moment
every sensation
sitting in the knowing
of what tomorrow brings

ReplyDeleteLOVING the new banner :)
ReplyDeleteOh dreams of good night sleeps :)
Have a lovely day, cheers, T. :)
a good night's sleep is gold worth and the mind and body really come to a well deserved rest & get new energy for the day - ugh on the medicine - hopefully it's just an exception

Deletei love the idea of promises tucking me in for the night.....xo
ReplyDeleteHow often we take sleep for granted - until it escapes us. Then we realize how critical it is to our well-being and creativity. I hope you awoke feeling refreshed this morning.
ReplyDeleteCritical to our well-being is so right . . . I had a great nights sleep thank you. Hope you did too.
DeleteBeautiful poem--you create the story visually with your words. Also, love the artwork on both sites!
ReplyDeletein the shifting colors
of your sleepless haze
you manage to say
“I love you”
Thanks for the poem Frank, love it.
DeleteAhhhh...beautiful sleep. Beautiful poem. And not quite sure what the image is...but I love it!
ReplyDeleteIs it a sentiment expressed to another or for self? I'm not sure. I think the one who speaks the last stanza is awake (Or maybe I am the one asleep.
ReplyDeleteSleep is an escape, a need second to the physical necessity.
But I feel something ominous about tomorrow. Your piece, well-written, has that tone, prevailing I think.
You've set the mood and now I can't sleep either.
Cheers!
Jeff, you hit the nail on the head. It is expressed to self and there is something ominous about tomorrow (a drug induced coma).
DeleteSweet dreams.
echoing the complements on the lovely image - both in picture and words!
