It's been cold and icy here in Ohio for a while now and we're set to have a bunch of snow over the next few days. It's funny how I love snow over the holidays but once Christmas is done so am I. I find myself longing for lighter nights and brisk breezes rather than a deep freeze.
I often wonder how the birds don't freeze to death with the temperatures we've been experiencing lately but I guess, unlike me, they have it all figured out.
I try to make sure the bird feeders are well stocked so that they have plenty of food to keep them going. If only my own fridge was filled with the same care and attention.
There's something about the greyness of January that seems to mirror my own mood. I'm trying to shake loose of it but it can be pretty clingy. Still it will pass, it always does. Hope you are all staying nice and warm in your neck of the woods.
I often wonder about the birds too and how they manage...
ReplyDeleteYes, I'm the same way - I love snow leading up to and during the holidays but enough is enough. But I'm afraid that Ohio winter isn't done with us yet. As always, you amaze with your ability to capture these quick-moving creatures.
ReplyDeleteYou're very kind to those birdies, beautiful shots. I always feel a bit grey in the middle of winter too- although I'm very much enjoting summer in Sydney at the moment :)
ReplyDeleteGorgeous photos K. :)
ReplyDeleteI have often wondered that too! :)
But our weather is pretty mild (if overcast) so lots of birds on the feeder right now :)
Cheers, T. :)
well i think your handwritten note idea may just break that greyness...that cardinal is beautiful love the hair cut...looks a bit like mine...ha...
ReplyDeleteReally nice photographs. I too crave sunshine because the lack of it in winters can be a little tiresome for me. It is just a matter of time before the grass gains back its sheen.
ReplyDelete-HA
beautiful pics and i too always wonder how the birds stay warm as they seem to look so fragile in the cold... we had lots of rain and grey so far this winter... i think a bit snow and sunshine would lift my mood as well...sigh...
ReplyDeleteI also wonder where in the hollows and canopy the birds huddle ~
