Nose Nuzzles

purrs disrupt the morning darkness
as the tickling softness of you
caresses shoulder then cheek
nose nuzzles in a wet cold greeting
pressure points triggered
first two, then four
until the weight of you
crushes my throat
I choke out a protest
but there's no regard for sleep
when there's food to be had

  1. You've described the scene beautifully. What loving caresses, or perhaps manipulative? LOL. My dogs jump on me if I wait too long to get up. Smiles.

    1. It's bad enough with two cats that like to walk all over my face but when the dogs start it gets really crazy.

  2. Ha, yup. My cat Brett just runs over my head to wake me up, with no politeness whatsoever. They are lucky we love them so much...

  6. I don't have cats (allergic) but your words paint a detailed picture in my mind of the waking-up process that they provide.

    1. I imagine animals are a lot like kids at times. They can drive you nuts but you can't help but love them.

  9. Lovely poem! It reminded me of my former cat. She used to sleep on my head and sometimes would lie on my throat too.
