Purple Hummingbirds

bright purple hummingbirds
mind manifested
swarm

until

punctured by pain
reality slips to reveal
a mind gone rogue

freaked out
panicked
I struggle to assemble
the distortion of perception
before hysteria engulfs me

I've never done recreational drugs but after a surgery I was given some narcotics.  While they did nothing for the pain they did make me hallucinate.  I know some people pay for the experience but all it did was freak me out.

Torrent Of Tears

fear lights the sky
with heavy growl
and low rumble

striking in its fury
the earth shakes
urging caution

action propelled
inceptively towards flight
ensuing into stillness

where rooted, exposed
I stand
arms open wide

embracing madness
I'm drenched
in a torrent of tears

Inspired by a thunder and lightening storm that I got caught in this weekend.  Linking up with Imaginary Garden With Real Toads

Time

this is the poem that stands
in the still of time
unnerved
as others pass it by

this is the poem that rises
to the beat of seconds
discarded
in the every minute of every day

this is the poem that falls
through the layers
of yesterdays
and todays

this is the poem that turns
down into feathered wings
healing illusions
as it flies

Wanna Dance

as their eyes meet
her stomach flips in anticipation
and moving towards her
across a smoke filled room
his intention is clear

'clock strikes upon the hour
and the sun begins to fade'

with her hand in his
drifting towards the dance floor
they inch close
closer
closer still

'oh, wanna dance with somebody
I wanna feel the heat with somebody'

she's conscious of the length of him
pressed firmly against her
and the sea of bodies
moving in rhythm
pulsing red then green
in the glow of lights

'yeah, wanna dance with somebody
with somebody who loves me'

losing herself in the moment
in the movement
in the music . . . . . until

'sooner or later the fever ends
and I wind up feeling down'

a wet sensation brings her to her senses
there's a tongue probing her ear

Inspired by a teenage disco and the Whitney Houston song 'I Wanna Dance With Somebody'.

Memory Bones

in the crashing of waves
splintered shreds
of memory bones
are excavated
with reckless impatience

tides of time rip at them
with hungry claws
their one dimensionality
a mere carbon copy
lacking the essence of whole

and with fingers as sieve
sand filters time
until nothing is left
but a shell

Photo Heart Connection: June

This might seem like an odd choice for my Photo Heart Connection this past month but this image depicts how I've been feeling lately . . . somewhat off kilter.

My facial nerve pain has been bad the last few weeks and I'm also battling with a herniated disc.  Both have put a severe cramp in my creative efforts and I haven't been out much with the camera.  I hope to remedy that soon and apologize if things are a little disjointed around here lately.

I will be taking a short break over the holiday weekend to spend time with family but will catch you all on the other side.  Hope you all have a wonderful weekend.
